2. Conservation of historical buildings

The basic objectives in the rehabilitation of architectural heritage are aimed at its conservation and integral transmission to the future, based on the following principles:

  • The conservation, consolidation and restoration of architectural heritage requires a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Continue to use a property as it was designed to be used, or find a new use that minimizes necessary changes to character defining features.
  • Respect for the original location, fabric and history. Maintain, protect, and repair authentic character defining features, materials, and finishes. If features are deteriorated beyond repair, replace them in-kind. Retain authentic historic building fabric to the maximum extent possible
  • Respect for documentary evidence. Do not base restoration on conjecture.
  • Legibility
  • Minimal interventions
  • Reversibility.

We collaborate on rehabilitation projects of historic buildings in several phases

  • General Building Inspection and Diagnosis: recognition, detection, evaluation and prior diagnosis of deficiencies in existing buildings
  • Identification, diagnosis and rehabilitation of structural pathologies
  • Rehabilitation of historic facades and roofs.
  • Rehabilitation of facilities. Energy rehabilitation of heritage buildings
